If you’ve ever looked at your Level Method map and thought “I feel stuck” or “Why can’t I just move up already?” — you’re not alone. We’ve had some brilliant conversations recently with members who’ve shared honest feedback about feeling frustrated, especially around certain assessments like Aerobic Power Intervals (API) where the jump between levels can feel… massive.
So we wanted to take a moment to zoom out and share why we use Level Method, how to approach training and assessments, and how you can continue to make progress — even if the map doesn’t change colour (yet!).
🧭 Why We Use Level Method
The Level Method is more than just a test — it’s a roadmap for progress. It breaks down fitness into multiple areas (strength, endurance, mobility, etc.) so you can clearly see where you’re strong, where you can grow, and how to get there safely and confidently.
Here’s why we love it:
- ✅ It helps you train smarter, not just harder.
- 🔎 It highlights strengths and blind spots — we all have them.
- 🧱 It allows us to personalise your training within group sessions.
- 🧠 It encourages long-term progress, not just short-term wins.
💭 How to Approach Training & Assessments
- Progress is more than colour. Levelling up is great — but it’s not the only sign of progress. Better form, more consistency, quicker recovery, and increased confidence in a movement all count too.
- Train for longevity, not ego. Struggling to level up because of one movement (like box jumps or a kettlebell snatch)? You’re not failing — you’re identifying a clear next focus. That’s valuable feedback, not a dead-end.
- Let assessments guide your journey. Think of assessments as checkpoints, not final exams. They help you see where you’re at today — and that helps us (and you) build the right training strategy moving forward.
🔄 Stuck Between Levels?
A common example is the Aerobic Power Intervals (API) test. Many of you are crushing the Orange level, but feel like the leap to Blue is too big — especially with things like box jumps or barbell weights.
If you’re in that boat, here’s what to remember:
- You haven’t plateaued. You’ve just hit a movement that needs some TLC.
- We can work with you to build progressions, modify appropriately, and still get a killer workout.
- Your effort, consistency, and attitude matter more than any number on the map.
🗓️ What’s Coming in April?
This month, we’ll be running assessments in:
- Front Squat 🏋️♀️
- Kettlebell (Swings + Snatches) 💥
- Running 🏃♂️
These are great opportunities to:
- See how far you’ve come
- Set goals for the next few months
- Celebrate non-scale victories — like moving better, lifting more confidently, or recovering faster
🙌 In Summary
We use Level Method to empower you — not limit you. It’s a tool to support your journey, give you clarity, and help us coach you better. Assessments can sometimes feel tough, but they’re just one piece of the puzzle.
If you’re ever unsure where you’re at or what to work on next — we’re here to help. That’s what coaching is all about.
Keep showing up, keep putting in the work, and remember: you’re doing better than you think.
