Why We Use the Level Method at Primal Mvmnt

If you’ve started seeing coloured “levels” pop up in class and on the app, you’re in the right place. The Level Method isn’t just a testing system, it’s your road map. It shows you exactly where you are today and what to work on next, so you can train safely, progress steadily, and stay motivated without comparing yourself to someone on a totally different journey.

No guessing. No feeling lost. Just clear data, smart coaching, and a path that fits you.

What the Level Method does for you

  • Clarity, not chaos: Know your current level across strength, skill, and conditioning.
  • Personalised progress: Target the right pieces instead of smashing random workouts.
  • Safety first: We build you gradually so joints are happy and confidence grows.
  • Motivation that lasts: Each level-up is real, earned, and celebrated (yes—certificates).

1) First things first—complete your levels

If you haven’t finished all your assessments yet, make that your mission. When the full picture is in place:

  • You’ll see your strengths and exactly where we’ll put focus.
  • You’ll unlock level-up certificates as you progress.
  • You’ll feel your confidence rise because progress is mapped, not imagined.

There’s something powerful about seeing your development on one page, it turns “I hope I’m improving” into “I am improving.”

2) When and how we assess

  • Every Saturday at 8:05 a.m. we run Level Method assessments.
  • We rotate tests through a seven-week cycle so you can steadily chip away and never feel overwhelmed.
  • Can’t remember what’s on? Open the app and scroll to the bottom of the workout day, it’s all listed there.

No pressure, no panic. Just turn up and give your best, we’ll coach you through the rest.

3) What we’re testing over the coming months

We cycle movement categories so you develop balanced fitness across strength, skill, and conditioning—not just one area.

October

  • Focus assessments: Upper Body Pull, Rings, Neurological & Core
  • Energy system: Ventilation (deep, lungs-on-fire conditioning)
  • “Electricity” focus: Gymnastics

November

  • Focus assessments: Upper Body Push, Upper/Lower Endurance
  • Energy system: Plumbing (gritty, muscle-burning efforts / controlled breath)
  • “Electricity” focus: Weightlifting

December

  • Focus assessments: Squat Endurance & Lactic Tolerance
  • Energy system: Ventilation (again)
  • “Electricity” focus: BB (Bodybuilding)

4) Quick guide to the energy systems

  • Electricity → short, intense power (weightlifting, explosive strength, gymnastics strength).
  • Plumbing → muscular endurance and that spicy “this burns but I’ve got it” feel.
  • Ventilation → classic gas-tank conditioning: bigger bouts, steady grit, breathing control.

The goal isn’t to crush you every session, the goal is to develop you.

What to expect on assessment days

  1. Coach briefing: What’s being tested and how we’ll scale to your level.
  2. Warm-up & movement prep: Technique first, always.
  3. Assessment with options: Clear standards, sensible progressions, and guardrails.
  4. Cool-down & logging: We capture your results in the app and set your next focus.
  5. Celebrate the wins: You’ll see how today’s effort fits tomorrow’s plan.

Why this works (for beginners to long-timers)

  • It keeps you safe by matching demands to your current capacity.
  • It builds you up gradually, so progress sticks.
  • It gives you clarity on where you are and where you’re going, without comparison traps.
  • Whether you’re brand new or years in, you’ll improve at the right pace for you.

Your next step

  • Finish your assessments (Saturdays, 8:05 a.m.).
  • Check the app to see what’s coming each week.
  • Ask your coach which two or three areas will unlock the biggest gains for you.
  • Collect your certificates as you level up, and enjoy seeing the story of your progress.

Stick with it, keep showing up, and trust the process. You’re going to surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.

See you in the gym 👊
