Ready to (re)discover running, with a plan, a coach and a crew at your side? Miles in the Making is a supportive, six-week course for absolute beginners through confident 5K runners who want to level up, move better and enjoy the miles.
When & where
- First session: Tuesday 26 August, 7:30–8:30 p.m. (we start on Tuesday because Monday 25 Aug is the Bank Holiday)
- Then weekly on Mondays: 7:30–8:30 p.m., rain or shine
- Meet point: Primal Mvmnt, Unit 19, Milber Trading Estate, TQ12 4SG
Can’t make week one? Join from the next Monday, we’ll get you up to speed.
Two tracks, one welcoming community
Beginner Group (Couch-to-5K inspired)
Perfect if you’re new to running or coming back after a long break. We’ll build confidence, stamina and speed with walk-jog progressions, technique drills and realistic homework between sessions.
Intermediate Group (push beyond 5K)
Already covering 5K? We’ll use structured intervals, tempo efforts and pacing strategies to nudge you towards 10K and beyond, or simply to run your 5Ks stronger and happier.
You’ll be grouped by ability so you’re always challenged—but never overwhelmed.
What you’ll get each week
- Coach-led warm-up & technique focus (breathing, cadence, posture).
- Main set tailored to your track (progressive walk-jogs or intervals/tempos).
- Cool-down & mobility to keep niggles at bay.
- Take-home plan so you know exactly what to do between sessions.
- Accountability & encouragement from Coach Jake Dan and your group.
A goal to aim for (optional but fun!)
We’re lining our timeline up with the Bumble Bee Challenge (Exmouth) on Saturday 20 September, with 5K, 10K, half, marathon and ultra options. You can keep it casual or go chase a shiny new distance; either way, you’ll have support.
Who it’s for
- Anyone 30–70 (and beyond!) who wants to start, restart or progress running.
- Strength-training members who’d like joint-friendly conditioning to complement lifting.
- Busy humans who want one focused, high-value session each week—plus a simple plan to follow.
What to bring
Comfortable running shoes, a light layer (we train in all weathers), and a bottle of water. Post-session, pop into the gym for chilled energy drinks and 20g protein bars to kick-start recovery.
FAQs
“I’m slow, will I hold people back?”
No. We coach by time and effort, not ego. Your group will be matched to your current level.
“What if I miss a week?”
Jake will give you a catch-up plan so you can stay on track.
“Bad weather?”
We run rain or shine. Severe conditions = modified session for safety.
“Old injury?”
Tell us before we start. We’ll adjust volume and surfaces while you rebuild confidence.
