July Newsletter 2025

I always wanted our gym to be different.

When most people hear the word “gym,” they think of rows of machines and piles of gear. You pay a few bucks for a membership and get access to the equipment.

But how do you know what to do, or how to do it, or how often? And what if you stop coming? Does anyone notice?

We’re technically a “gym,” but here’s a secret: We actually sell coaching, because I know coaching helps people get real results fast.

I’ve been in lots of situations where I wanted to do something but just couldn’t figure it out on my own. When I got expert help, problems that would have taken me months to solve disappeared in minutes.

Think about something that intimidates you: public speaking, home repair, vehicle maintenance, filing your taxes, cooking or anything else.

What’s the feeling you get?

For me, it’s a sense of dread and uncertainty. I expect frustration and disappointment. I worry about wasting time.

Now think about doing that same task with the help of a kind expert. I feel an instant sense of relief.

With a confident expert beside you, you’ve got backup, someone who can tell you what to do or say “that’s what’s supposed to happen” when you think you’ve made an error.

An expert can step in and supply tips and tricks that speed up the job, and when you feel frustrated, the expert can say, “You’re through the worst of it. Just go a little further. It’s all downhill now.”

That stuff is invaluable. In some cases, it’s life changing.

That’s why I wanted to be a fitness coach: to take the fear, guesswork and frustration out of fitness.

I wanted to be the person to say this: “Don’t worry. We’re going in the right direction.”

And this: “If we do this, we’ll reach the destination faster.”

And this: “We’re almost there. Rest up and let’s stomp the gas tomorrow!”

And finally this: “Congratulations!”

Sure, we use machines and dumbbells and barbells at our gym, but what we’re really doing is moving toward your goals as fast as possible. That’s what gets me out of bed in the morning and fires me up to get to the gym to work with you.

I’ve learned that a great coach always asks for feedback, because coaches do their best work when they have all the info.

So let’s check in: How are you doing these days? Do you feel like you’re making progress toward your goals? Is anything slowing you down? Have you had any big wins lately?

I’d love an update!
